MATH DAY1
OK, my mom ask me a question:
Here is the big question
-b-(-b+c+-e)+(-b)-(-b)+2c+(-4e)=?
and here is my answer:
-b+b+c-e-b+b+2c-4e
c-e-b+b+2c-4e
+c-e+2c-4e
3c+4e
my mom said that was wrong, and here are the correct steps:
=-b+b-c+e-b+b+2c-4e
=-c+e+2c-4e
=c+e-4
Good job, mom. OK fine, I was wrong, but I can try it again.
(Mom: well, well, well, that's what you have to pay when you makes mistakes!!!*)
ok, fine. next question:
8a-((9b-(-b)+(a+b)-(a+3b))+9-(-a)=?
=8a-((9b+b+a+b-a-3b))+9+a
=8a-8b+9+a
=9a-8b+9x
9a-8b+9
And guess what, this time, I did it right.
(Ryan: YAY!)
So I am off the huuk(hook**), g2g shopping now! see ya.
Enjoy this:

The other day, my greatest mother told me a wonderful math site: Art of Problem Solving. I love math, and I love to watch fun math videos. I decided to watch a few a day and blog about it. Stay tuned.

The Snow Fort
The Snow Fort
Today I made a huge snow fort. It was awesome! we even put a tunnel in it. I love it. Then mom used her shovel to get snow (into and) onto the igloo we made. It was fun and it helped clean up the driveway. But it will (sadly) melt down. :(

My first Chess Trophy
My first Chess Trophy!
This is my new blog for summer sky kid a.k.a. Ryan N.
Today I got a cool chess trophy at the hough street elementary school chess tournament. It was the first time I've gone to a chess tournament. I got fourth place. I ran into a lot of my friends like Tarun, Justin, and William. The tournament raises money to help Meher. She was sleeping inside a mosquito net. Suddenly the mosquito net caught on fire. Meher was burned badly, and she needed help. So Chess Without Borders started chess tournaments to raise money for Meher. I think that was a good idea. I'm so proud that I helped Meher by playing chess.

Weekly Book Review
Gosh, I read a lot, I really meant a lot. Here is the math, if I read a book a day from 1st grade, I have read:
3 years *356 days * 1 book = 1068 books. WOW, and if you don't believe it, I can show you my book logs. I almost log every book I read.
However, my mom said reading was not enough. I read, when I am finished, I put the book down, That it. Done. Why did she say this is not enough. I asked her what else should I do. She said I had to write book reports to show her I really read the book, and understand what I've read. This is extra, extra work, but I sort of agreed to give it a try.
Here are the books I read this week:
Book 1: Messages in the Mailbox. How to write a letter
No good.
Rank: *
Reason: This is for little kid. "You need to put a stamp on the envelop." Come on, I am too OLD for this. Plus, I email. no stamps are required.
Book 2: The case of the Barfy Birthday. Doyle and Fossey are 5th grade scientists. In this book, they help solved mysterious cases. The story is interesting, but not interesting enough.
Rank: **
Book 3: Beany and the Magic Crystal.Beany got a crystal and she think this a magic crystal, and she used it to make wishes. But turns out, if you work on your wish, you don't need a crystal to help, you can help yourself.
Rank: **
Book 4: My all time favorite Author Roald Dahl's book: Charlie and Chocolate Factory. Love it, love it, love it. 5 kids were chosen to go into Willy Wonkas' famous chocolate factory. Wonka is very old, he wanted to give the factory to the person who stays through the tour complete. Guess who won? Very good book, plus there is a movie you can watch. Lots of chocolate you feel like you can eat when you read the book.
Rank: *****
Book 5: Ghost Camp
Harry and his brother Alex want to fit into camp spirit moon. but the camp has weird traditions. and the old campers play tricks on the new ones. soon the jokes get serious, creepy and really scary.
Still, they are just jokes... aren't they? So it is a good goosebump book but it does not scare your pants off. It's very interesting, but I wish it could be more scary.
Rank: ****
Book 6:Shredderman I. This is totally made up story. A kid secretly fight with Bubba the bully. I wish I was strong enough to help him. Hahaha.
Rank:***
Book 7: Serious Science. This is actually pretty dumb. It is about little kids want to be in the fourth and fifth grade science fair instead they created a science fair for their own class. I really like the my brother's smelly socks exhibition, I also was interested in the hamster maze. but I think it's a good book.
Rank: ***
That's all the books I read this week. Now I am going to the library to get more for next week. See ya.
